TAMPA- As Hurricane Irma bears down on the state of Florida, the Lightning opened rookie camp at Amalie Arena.

While the rookie camp initially scheduled to be held in Estero was cancelled due to the storm threat, Tampa Bay’s rookie team will head to safety in Nashville where the Lightning will play three games against the Predators. When those games do get underway, recently acquired 19-year-old defenseman Mikhail Sergachev will have a spotlight on him as he looks to make the big team out of training camp. As the team reported on Thursday, Syracuse head coach Benoit Groulx discussed Sergachev and touched on a number of subjects surrounding the team while Sergachev talked about his goals heading in to this camp and dealing with his first hurricane.
