Chicago – The Lightning don’t have to leave the state to open up the 2017-18 season.

Tampa Bay opens up the season with back-to-back games against in-state rival Florida Panthers on Oct. 6 and 7, starting with the season opener at Amalie Arena followed the next night at BB&T Center in Sunrise.

The league’s newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights, make their first trip to Amalie Arena on Jan. 18 while former Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop makes his return to Tampa with the Dallas Stars on Nov. 16. Jonathan Drouin, who was traded last week to the Montreal Canadiens, faces his former team for the first time when the Canadiens come to Amalie Arena on Dec. 28.

Tampa Bay will also have two matinees on the home schedule, on back to back weeks as both the March 3 game against Philadelphia and the March 10 game against Montreal will be 1 p.m. opening faceoffs.
