The Lightning beat 4-1 Carolina on New Year’s Eve and for a rare chance, Tampa Bay played with the lead for the full game.

In his postgame meeting with the media, head coach Jon Cooper touched on scoring two power play goals against the top penalty kill team in the league, the play of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy and losing yet another forward to injury.
