Wilcox, a sixth round pick the Lightning in 2011, is in his second year as a pro after a strong three-year career at the University of Minnesota where he led the Golden Gophers to the 2014 Frozen Four championship game. In 11 starts this season, Wilcox ranks 10th in the American Hockey League with a 2.14 goals against average while posting an 8-3 record as he splits even playing time with Kristers Gudlevskis.

On Saturday, Wilcox received offensive support early in the game when Jeremy Morin scored 4:17 in to the game. Erik Condra and Erne scored in the second period to increase the lead to three goals before Erne added an empty net goal in the third.

Defenseman Matt Taormina and Condra both finished with three points on the night.

Wilcox, meanwhile, has won seven of his past eight decision since starting the season 1-2. In his past seven games, Wilcox has allowed two or fewer goals to help the Crunch sit in first place in the North Division with a record of 12-5-0-2.
