Welcome to LightningInsider.com, a hockey website run by long time Tampa Tribune hockey writer Erik Erlendsson.

After the Tribune was put out of business on May 3, 2016, hockey fans, and more importantly Tampa Bay Lightning fans, lost a presence and an experienced voice on the hockey scene.

So here at LightningInsider.com we want to fill that void and provide the same sort of expertise and insight Erlendsson provided during his 16 years of covering the team for a newspaper. But we want to be so much more.

This is going to be a site for the fans. While the daily beat reporting will continue to be a trademark, providing in-depth game recaps, player features, trend stories and breaking news, the content will evolve as interest rises. We will start to incorporate podcasts, exclusive chats, increased video content and anything else users want to see. Maybe there will even be a few contests or giveaways along the way.

There will be coverage of the Lightning High School Hockey League as well as Crunch Corner which will feature coverage of the Syracuse Crunch, Tampa Bay’s minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League.
